We're Habit.

Our name isn’t a coincidence. It came from the understanding that creativity is the key to action. And positive action creates good habits.

Back that with a carefully thought-out strategy and people who genuinely care about their craft, and delivering stellar results has become second nature to us.

A bit of background

Habit began as Ignition Media back in 2003 as a trio of ambitious designers working in a space the size of your left shoe. Though small, our determination is mighty. And people started to take notice. Soon, partnering with clients to do great work became part of our everyday routine.

As business grew, so did our team. We needed a larger space and a new name to reflect what we had become – an established full-service agency that consistently rose to any challenge to achieve the desired outcome. And so, the name Habit was born.

Today, we’re a talented group of creatives, developers, marketing specialists, environmental design experts and all around good people who are known for creating brands that are relevant and memorable.

Whatever the medium, we combine our creative, analytical, strategic, and organizational minds together to get you the results you need.

Habits we follow

01

Be honest.

In order to get the best work, we speak openly and sincerely, and provide feedback that has value.

02

Work hard.

For us, this is more than a job. It’s what we love to do. That’s why we give it our all, no matter how small the task.

03

Blow their minds.

We leave our egos at the door so we have room to exceed client expectations by creating great work that’s also a bit unusual.

W-O-W begins with three steps.

While our mission is to knock your socks off right from the start, how we accomplish this is where all the magic happens.

01

Discover.

Around here, we never leave anything to chance, and we never, ever assume. In order to establish effective strategies, we dig deep into getting to know you, which includes a lot of research, questions, and listening.

02

Develop.

As a team, each one of us brings a unique perspective to the table. Together, we build strategies, messaging, and creative that work to solve your problem and get your brand noticed.

03

Deliver.

An idea without a plan is only a dream. We know what it takes to execute an idea successfully, and always ensure every piece of the puzzle fits properly before anything is launched.

Why you should work with us.

Every brand has a story. Our job is to help you tell your story in a way that sets you apart from the crowd. It’s about getting you noticed and remembered for all of the right reasons. It’s about making others want to take action by answering the question “How does this benefit me?” The way we achieve this is what we like to refer to as our habitude.

Always bring your A-game.

We take pride in what we do, which means only the best ideas make it out the door. You won’t find any reused ideas or half-assery here, because we’re always striving to improve what we can do.

Keep things fresh.

We’re constantly finding new ways to expand your marketing efforts, help you communicate with your audiences, and attract new business. After all, your success is our success.

Build Partnerships.

We work with clients who are looking for a partner, not just someone to get the work done. You know your industry, and we know marketing. Together we’ll create something that gets results.

Walk in other's shoes.

We look at things from your perspective and do our best to understand the problems you face so we can solve them. And we’re transparent about what you can expect from us and our work.

Learn as much as possible.

When we start a new project, we ask the right questions and really listen to your responses so we can do the best work possible. This prevents us from having to go back to the drawing board.

Have fun.

We do professional work, but we also like having a good time, and aren’t shy about it. Being able to enjoy yourself at work makes it feel well, less like work. And the end result is better because of it.

Call us the Habiteers.
Just don't call us boring.

Like you, we’re anything but basic. As creators, collaborators, and friends, we cheer each other on and always have one another’s backs—and yours, too.

Sure, we all have titles, but we understand that great ideas come from all sorts of wonderful places, regardless of what your role might be.

President

Tim Hanas

As a former TV director and producer, Tim knows what it takes to bring a client’s vision to life, and brought that expertise with him when he founded Habit in 2003. Wanting an A-list team that could handle any creative project, he curated a talented group of website, design, and marketing geniuses who have developed brands and campaigns for businesses throughout Canada. Tim credits Habit’s success to his team, understanding that letting them do what they do best translates to great work and happy clients.

Though he refers to himself as Tim the “tool man” Hanas, no one has yet been able to confirm his handyman skills—unless repairing broken things around the house with duct tape counts.

Habit he can’t live without: Iced coffee with almond milk.

Video Producer

Dan Wilberg

If there’s anyone who jams to the rhythm of his own guitar, it’s Dan. As Habit’s Video Producer, he knows how to rock out awesome videos, including shooting and editing, animation, sound design, and motion graphics. And let’s not forget about his sultry vocals, which he’s allowed us to borrow for various voiceovers. This MacEwan University graduate with a diploma in Design and Motion Image loves getting out in the field and shooting creatively, but also appreciates learning about the variety of other industries he gets to interact with.

Once the camera is put away, Dan is all about his music, which has allowed him to tour internationally and record professionally.

Habit he can’t live without: Combining speed and nature through activities like skiing and mountain biking.

This graduate of MacEwan University’s Digital Media and Design program is meticulous when it comes to details. Her extreme organizational skills allow her to stay on top of things – from project management to campaign strategies, to ensuring deadlines are always met.

With a knack for driving projects forward, it’s no surprise Brandie has a passion for golf. Between her natural abilities in the office and on the greens, you could say she’s one talented birdie.

Habit’s she can’t live without: Getting her adrenaline pumping with regular exercise.

Account Manager

Jill Minard

What do you get when you combine a Bachelor of Commerce degree with absurdly high organizational skills? You get Jill, an account manager and an overall “Jill-of-all-trades” (see what we did there). As the middle-person between our clients and creatives, Jill is key to ensuring the lines of communication always remain clear and open. Her natural ability to connect and understand consumer behaviours makes her a true asset to the team. Her favourite thing about her job? Playing a role in helping businesses grow and thrive.

Ask Jill about her bestie Kevin, and watch her face light up as she tells you about what a good boy he is—at least when he’s not barking orders. These two can often be found together walking in the park or hitting Happy Hour.

Habit she can’t live without: A healthy dose of caffeine and hitting the snooze button, likely not in that order

As Habit’s Marketing Strategist Nonso is all about asking the right questions, searching for insights and human truths, while crafting strategies and telling brand stories in a compelling way. He is a versatile marketing and communications professional who has successfully executed projects for both global iconic brands and emerging brands. Nonso holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology, and marketing certifications from HubSpot Academy, Google Skillshop, and SEMrush.

When he is not digging for insights, building strategies or telling brand stories, he is either making music or out there playing a team sport, catching up with friends or enjoying a walk in the park.

Habit he can’t live without: Listening to music - you will most likely catch him with headphones on, jamming to music of all genres.

When Kennedy isn't pitching design ideas, she's hitting pitches on the fastball diamond, thriving in fast-paced environments both on and off the field. A self-professed trend hunter, Kaitlyn loves leveraging emerging technologies to help clients take their brands to the next level. As a result, she knows exactly how to offer value through content that both inspires and evokes action.

When she’s not influencing, Kaitlyn can be found showing off her mad skills in the dance floor—or around the office. Fun fact: Before starting her marketing career, she toured throughout North America as a professional dancer.

Habit she can’t live without: Chewing gum, which she heard helps you focus and be more productive.

The Habit Culture

Around here, if you have a great idea, it’s ready for it to end up online, in print, or on TV. We just ask that you show up each day with a “can do” attitude, sense of humour, and ability to notice the little things.

Our culture is work hard, play hard, and play nice. We expect you to give it your all 8:30am – 5:00pm every Monday to Friday. After that, we want you out in the world living your best life—not chained to your desk all weekend.

Still not convinced?

Here are a few perks to sweeten the deal.

The best tools for the job

When you start, we’ll set you up with a MacBook loaded with industry-standard software. And if you need anything else to make your job more doable, we can probably make it happen for you, too.

Yoga-worthy flexibility

These days, being able to maintain a healthy work-life balance is more important than ever. The worst kind of employee is a burnt out one, which is why we offer flexible work hours, work-from-home options, and paid time off so you can recharge when your batteries feel low.

Extra pay for your extra time

If you end up putting in some overtime, we’ll pay you for every extra minute you work outside of regular hours. Nobody works for free.

Some serious fun

We’re all a bit quirky, and we love to celebrate our wins, whether work-related or personal, together as a team, whether that’s with cake and balloons, pizza and brewskies, or a competitive round of office trivia.
